Privacy Policy

Last updated June 13, 2026

uwake is a calm place to talk to someone when you can't sleep. That only works if it feels safe, so we keep what we collect to a minimum and we never sell, mine, or use your conversations for ads. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and the control you have over it.

Information we collect

We try to collect as little as possible:

  • Account basics. What you give us when you sign up, such as a username, an email address or phone number used to sign in, and your password (stored only as a secure hash, never in plain text).
  • Your conversations. The messages you send and receive, so we can deliver them and you can pick up where you left off.
  • Basic usage and device info. Things like app version, device type, and limited diagnostics that help us keep uwake working and safe.

We don't ask for more than we need, and we don't buy information about you from data brokers.

How we use your information

We use the information above only to:

  • provide uwake and deliver your conversations;
  • keep your account secure and let you sign back in;
  • keep the community safe, including reviewing reports and acting on blocks;
  • fix bugs and understand whether the app is working;
  • contact you about your account or important service changes.

What we never do

Your conversations are private. We do not sell them, mine them, or use them to target ads. uwake has no ads, and we do not share your conversation content with advertisers or data brokers. We do not use your private messages to build an advertising profile of you.

How we share information

We share information only in a few limited situations:

  • Service providers. Trusted companies that help us run uwake (for example, hosting and infrastructure) may process data on our behalf, under agreements that limit them to that purpose.
  • Safety. We may review and share limited information when needed to investigate reports, enforce our rules, or protect someone's safety.
  • Legal. We may disclose information if required by law or valid legal process.

Your choices and controls

You stay in control of your experience:

  • Block, report, or leave any conversation at any time, no questions asked.
  • Access and export your information, or ask us for a copy of what we hold.
  • Delete your account and your associated data. You can reach us anytime at hello@uwakeapp.com.

How long we keep information

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide uwake. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information, except where we're required to keep something for legal, security, or safety reasons.

How we protect information

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and securely hashed passwords. No service can promise perfect security, but we work to keep your information safe and to limit who can access it.

If you're in crisis

uwake is a place to talk, not a crisis or medical service, and it isn't a substitute for professional care. If things feel like too much, you don't have to carry it alone. In the US, you can call or text 988 anytime to reach a trained, caring human, free and confidential.

Children's privacy

uwake is intended for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it, and it is not directed to children. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as uwake grows. When we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. If we ever add features that work differently (for example, anything involving AI), we'll tell you clearly and update this policy first.
